I can’t believe as I sit here typing this it’s been exactly six months today since Olivia and I left for Bali, to start our open-ended adventure. It began with sixteen hours of travelling; our bellies filled with nerves, excitement, and some questionable plane food.
Our ten days in Bali were filled from morning to night, as we toured almost the entire island. We visited ornate temples, sprawling rice terraces, white sand beaches, soaked in hot springs, hiked Mount Batur volcano, snorkelled in glassy oceans (and got stung by a swarm of baby jellyfish while we were at it), played with monkeys in the Sacred Forest and washed it all down with a few Bintangs. Okay, a lot of Bintangs. Drinking local beer = taking in the culture, right?
I know I’m normally all about the words, but I think my GoPro (and terribly amateur editing) does a pretty good job of summing up our time there.
We couldn’t have picked a better place to begin our travels and there is no doubt in my mind that one day I’ll be back to explore more of Indonesia. Until then, you can find me daydreaming about coconuts and satay tempeh.
